Jeden z dvoch hradov Bratislavy vypínajúci sa na mieste, aké si možno len ťažko predstaviť: Na strmom skalnom brale nad sútokom dvoch krásnych riek, tmavej Moravy a mohutného do hneda zafarbeného Dunaja na slovensko-rakúskych hraniciach a na kraji mokraďového národného parku Donau Auen.
Vidno ho už zďaleka všetkými smermi a jeho história je staršia ako tisíc rokov čo dosvedčujú početné archeologické náleziská na hrade a v okolí.
Výhľady z neho či už na sútok Moravy a Dunaja, alebo za krásneho počasia až po rakúske Alpy sú nezabudnuteľné a jeho dolná tehlová vežička prezývaná panenská je jedným z hlavných symbolov Slovenska.
Toto všetko sa nachádza len 20 minút MHD od centra Bratislavy. Ak teda Bratislavu navštívite, návšteva tohto miesta presláveného históriou a známym Devínskym ríbezľovým vínom je priam povinnosť.

The exact origins of the Pajštún castle are unclear with some historians considering it to be the same castle as the Stupava castle. The castle is standing above Stupava but is not included in the administrative territory of this town. Other historians situate the origins of the castle in the last third 13th century with Rugerius of Tallesbrunn giving the order to build it.[1] Pajštún was part of a regional castle system aimed at defending the north-western border of the Kingdom of Hungary.[4] The original name of the castle was probably the German Peilenstein. The current Slovak name, Pajštún, is corrupted version of this original German one.[1] One of the first known records mentioning the castle (or the village below) comes from 1314 in connection to its owner, Otto from Telesprun. Many sources often, mistakenly, date the first mention of the castle to 1273.[5] Certain is that the castle existed before 1390 when it was donated by Sigismund of Luxemburg as a hereditary property to Peter of the noble family of Svätý Jur and Pezinok. After this family died out in 1543 the castle was for a while owned by Gašpar Serédy. ... S históriou Bratislavy je neodmysliteľné spätá aj postava rabína, Chatáma Sófera, vlastným menom Moše Schreiber, ktorý patril medzi najvýznamnejších rabínov celej židovskej histórie. Po usadení sa v Bratislave založil tzv. ješivu, vysoké náboženské učilište, kde vychoval stovky rabínov a pôsobil ako významná náboženská autorita pre rabínov z celej Európy. Jeho hrob je umiestnený za električkovým tunelom pod hradom bol počas minulého režimu zanedbaný a odsúdený na zánik. Povráva sa, že komunistická vláda súhlasila s uzavretím jeho mauzólea betónovými blokmi čim sa zabránilo jeho zničeniu za údajne veľmi vysokú finančnú kompenzáciu. Po páde komunistického režimu bolo mauzóleum zrekonštruované a dnes sa radí medzi najvýznamnejšie a najposvätnejšie miesta judaizmu navštevované príslušníkmi židovského národa z celého sveta.
